Operation Safe Return
There may have been a problem with the electricity shortly after half-time at the Super Bowl, but the electrical current was fully charged as all eyes were glued to ‘Whole Again,’ the moving and heartfelt Jeep commercial, narrated by Oprah Winfrey.
This year at the Super Bowl, the Jeep® brand delivered a patriotic salute to our service men and women, and to our everyday heroes – our neighbors, cousins, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers – who choose to serve the cause of freedom both here and abroad.
The Jeep brand has been serving and supporting our troops on the ground since 1941, the same year the USO was born. More than seven decades of shared DNA have created a bond between them that’s never been stronger or more vital in answering the needs of returning service personnel and their families.
The partnership has just announced the launch of ‘Operation SAFE Return,’ a program in which the Jeep brand will actively promote volunteerism and community giving, and contribute more than $1 million in funding and vehicles to the USO for programs to directly aid service members and their families re-acclimating to civilian life.
“Operation SAFE Return is a natural evolution of the historic partnership and further cements the Jeep brand’s commitment to providing support and aid to our military heroes; we encourage everyone to consider giving back to those who have selflessly given so much to this nation,” said Jeep Brand President and CEO Mike Manley.
Kicking off this new initiative, Jeep brand employees from across the country hosted a “day of service” at the USO’s Warrior and Family Center at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, on Wed., Feb. 6.
A Jeep brand-generated social media campaign called “Tribute for Troops” will work to build support for the troops in their communities, donating $1 for every one who joins the movement and tweets out his or her efforts using the hash tag #joinOSR.
USO President and CEO Sloan Gibson praised the partnership with the Jeep brand, saying “This is a wonderful day for our troops and their families. The USO is honored to partner with Jeep.”
