Pacino, Walken, Arkin … and Dodge Challenger SRT8

I recently had the opportunity to see the film Stand Up Guys at my local movie emporium. The film stars Academy Award winners Al Pacino, Christopher Walken and Alan Arkin in a tough but touching action comedy where retired gangsters reunite for one epic last night. There were few surprises in a plot line I had seen before. What did surprise me was the appearance of the fourth star of the movie about a third of the way in.
It was a beautiful black Dodge Challenger SRT8.
The boys take a liking to the sleek design that just oozes power and performance. So, they decide to steal it, and put former wheel man Arkin at the controls.
Reviewer Skip Sheffield of the Boca Raton News put it this way:
“… the guys handily steal a new Dodge Challenger, which Hirsch (Arkin) drives like Mario Andretti despite having been hooked up to oxygen moments before. Then they set off on a merry chase pursued by half the Los Angeles Police force, eluding them handily, and then continuing the spree as if nothing had happened—never to be bothered by the cops again.”
Seeing the Challenger SRT8 on the big screen nearly brought me out of my seat. Was it the best thing in the movie? It’s awfully hard to upstage Pacino, Walken and Arkin, that’s for sure.
But it came close.

Call or visit our website to find out more about the Challenger SRT8, and come in to Safford Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Fredericksburg for a test drive. But be warned: if you suddenly feel the need to mimic Mario Andretti, we advise you to leave that to the boys on the big screen. They haven’t yet given us permission to start filming Stand Up Guys II ….
