The More Things Change, The More They Stay The Same
When the Dodge Caravan was introduced, it wasn’t just a new vehicle. It was a whole new kind of vehicle.
First previewed in the spring of 1983, the Caravan introduced America to the minivan. In a bold national marketing campaign Dodge called the Caravan “a transportation revolution.”
Starting with the popular K-car sedan platform, with its rugged 2.2-liter engine and front-wheel drive, designers threw away the styling rulebook and expanded the body’s dimensions right out to the boundaries of the vehicle’s footprint. The result was essentially a big, roomy box on wheels, utilizing maximum form efficiency—small on the outside, huge on the inside.
The minivan was a smash hit, needless to say, and a new category was born as all the automakers rushed to bring their own copycat vehicles to market.
To celebrate this historic occasion, Dodge offers the 2014 Grand Caravan 30th Anniversary Edition packed with convenience, premium features and added-value.
Available in both SE and SXT models, the 30th Anniversary Edition includes a long list of exclusive features as standard equipment. The SE version includes 30th Anniversary badging on the front fenders, gorgeous 17-inch satin carbon aluminum wheels, and body-color heated exterior mirrors.
Inside the 30th Anniversary SE, you’ll find distinctive black cloth seats with sliver stitching and piano black accents, black leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, black headliner and overhead console, and elegant 30th Anniversary logos on the gauge cluster and key fob. Also included: Uconnect Hands-Free Group featuring SiriusXM Satellite Radio with a one-year subscription, Bluetooth streaming audio and voice command, and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror.
The SXT version takes all these exclusive features and then adds premium features such as a 10-way power driver’s seat, leatherette seats with suede inserts and silver accent stitching, bright chrome window trim moldings, bright roof rack, fog lamps, automatic headlamps, and more.
Of course, both the SE and SXT 30th Anniversary Editions include as standard the award-winning 283 hp Pentastar V6 and six-speed automatic transmission. Available exterior colors include a unique Granite Crystal Pearl Coat only available on 30th editions, as well as Billet Silver Metallic Clear Coat, Brilliant Black Crystal Pearl Coat, Maximum Steel Metallic Clear Coat, Bright White Clear Coat, Deep Cherry Red Pearl Coat, Redline Red 2-Coat Pearl, Sandstone Pearl Coat and True Blue Pearl Coat.
Throughout the last 30 years, trends have come and gone, technology has evolved immensely, and the children of the 80″s have graduated from the backseat to the driver’s seat….. but the best-selling, most-awarded minivan ever, still remains a timeless icon in our lives.
