The 2012 Chrysler Town and Country: Specializing in Family-Friendly Vacations

Last summer my sister and I dragged my boys half-way across the country for a month, in my Chrysler Town & Country, just to re-live a bit of our childhood, exploring our country’s national parks and historical sites: The Grand Canyon, Pikes Peak, Yellowstone National Park, Mount Rushmore, etc, etc…. This was something we used to do as kids every summer, and we wanted to do it again with my kids, so they could experience the ‘thrill’ of it all (not necessarily their word!)

Chrysler Town and Country

World’s Largest Tube of Lipstick

At Safford Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Fredericksburg we hear interesting stories from our customers about their family travels too.  Customers have told us some amazing stories, shown us pictures of beautiful landscapes they have visited, and shared how wonderful it is to travel cross-country in the luxury of their Chrysler Town & Country, but nothing makes us laugh more than people who tell us that they just got back from seeing the world’s largest cow.  For your enjoyment, here are a few other wacky places our customers have told us about:

Chrysler Town and Country

Big Mac Museum

The Big Mac Museum. For people who love McDonald’s, this museum is the mecca of the fast-food chain’s most popular item. The museum, located in North Huntingdon, PA, is also a working McDonald’s restaurant.  You can learn the history of the Big Mac, see artifacts like a Big Mac toaster and a sauce gun, and check out a 14 foot tall Big Mac.

Chrysler Town and Country

World’s Largest Catsup Bottle

World’s Largest Catsup Bottle. Yes, this is real.  The World’s Largest Catsup bottle is a 170 foot tall water tower built in 1949 for the city of Collinsville, IL.  At the time, the town was home to the G.S. Suppiger catsup bottling company and the water tower was built to show the world how proud they were of their town’s industry.  This roadside attraction was almost demolished in 1995, but was luckily saved and restored and in 2002 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

Chrysler Town and Country

Crayola Crayon Factory

Crayola Factory and Hall of Fame in Easton, PA. I have heard that this is not really an actual factory, but is still a cool tour and museum for families to visit.  A guide shows you how crayons are made and leads you through the entire process of making Crayolas.  There are several activity stations for your children to have hands-on play time.  There is a model magic station, a place to create your own 35mm slides and project them on the wall, and thousands of things for the kids to color.  Don’t forget to finish your visit by checking out the World’s Largest Crayon, which is 15 feet long and 1,500 lbs.

2012 Chrysler Town and Country

World’s Largest Chest of Drawers

World’s Largest Chest of Drawers. If you happened to pass by this North Carolina attraction in your youth you might not recognize it today.  The original chest of drawers was built in the 1920s by the High Point Chamber of Commerce to honor their status as the “Home Furnishings Capital of the World.” The building was originally 20-feet tall but was renovated in 1996 and became a 38-foot tall block front chest with two socks to symbolize the city’s hosiery industry.

Cadillac Ranch

Cadillac Ranch – Located just to the west of Amarillo on I-40 is this eccentric billionaire’s attempt to baffle the locals.  In 1974 local billionaire Stanley Marsh III and a group of artists called the Ant Farm put 10 Cadillacs into the ground.  It became an instant tourist attraction and a place for people to create their own art work by spray painting the Cadillacs.  If you want to make your mark on the cars make sure you take a picture because it won’t be long before someone spray paints over your mark.

2012 Chrysler town and country

Pez Museum

Museum of Pez  Memorabilia – Did you love Pez candy when you were a kid?  If you were like my sister, you liked the dispensers more than you liked the candy. ( she has a collection that could almost rival the one at this museum! ) If you happen to be travelling near Burlingame, California stop by and check out the Pez Museum.  It is pretty small but it holds over 550 different character dispensers and the world’s largest Pez dispenser.

World’s Largest Ball of Twine

Largest Ball of Twine – In 1950 a man named Francis Johnson started wrapping twine for around four hours a day for about 6 months.  He continued to wrap twine until he died in 1989.  If you are passing by Darwin, MI you can see his twine ball creation that now weighs 17,400 pounds!

Only in America can you visit such a fun and amazing array of attractions on your travels.  And only from Chrysler can you get the 2012 Chrysler Town & Country, which provides you with the most luxurious and family friendly way to travel. 2012 Chrysler 200 Super S by Mopar….Coming on Strong

2012 Chrysler 200 Super S
2012 Chrysler 200 Super S

Chrysler Group LLC’s Mopar brand set its sights on the 2012 Chrysler 200. The Chrysler 200 Super S by Mopar is a rolling showcase for the latest Mopar exterior parts that will be available for the 200 sedan in 2012. The Chrysler 200 Super S by Mopar will debut at the 2012 North American International Auto Show.

“The Super S is Mopar’s interpretation of the Chrysler 200,” said Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO of Mopar, Chrysler Group LLC’s service, parts and customer-care brand. “The extensive list of high-quality Mopar parts enhances the performance and appearance of our Chrysler 200.”

For Stage One, Mopar’s long list of modifications starts at the front of the car with a large chin spoiler, satin chrome fog light trim, satin chrome grille surround and mesh in the upper and lower grilles. The upper grille is gloss black with a recessed Chrysler wing badge.

Body sides feature new side sills, satin chrome belt molding, black chrome “200” badges and gray or hyper black 18-inch “S” alloy wheels.

From the rear view, the new look is capped off by a new trunk lid spoiler, satin chrome light bar and a matte black lower diffuser with attached exhaust openings.

Stage Two adds performance with a coil-over suspension, which also lowers the center of gravity for the vehicle. In addition, Stage Two includes a cold-air intake and cat-back exhaust.

This Mopar package on the Chrysler 200 Super S will be available at Safford Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Fredericksburg later in 2012. Mopar’s Chrysler 200 Super S will be one many Mopar-modified vehicles that will debut during the 2012 auto show season.

If I could buy a new car I do believe it would be the  Chrysler 200 .
You get the wind in the hair on four wheels instead of two…..if only I could fit a team’s worth of lacrosse equipment in the trunk. 🙂

Three new Jeeps with Altitude….and attitude

jeep grand cherokee altitude

In January, Jeep introduced a distinctive, “blacked-out” production-intent concept Grand Cherokee at the Houston Auto Show, and connected with consumers to name the model. With more than 100,000 entries from enthusiasts of the Jeep brand – which boasts more than 2 million Facebook fans – “Altitude” emerged as the winning vehicle name. The response from Jeep lovers was so overwhelming that the Jeep brand announced it will produce not just one, but three new limited-edition Jeep vehicles: the Grand Cherokee, Compass and Patriot Altitude models.

“The fact that well over 100,000 consumers entered our ‘Name My Ride’ contest reinforces the passion behind the Jeep brand, and its position as one of the most recognizable and popular brands in the world,” said Mike Manley, President and CEO – Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. “The extraordinary response to both the concept and the contest resulted in an easy decision to produce ‘blacked-out’ editions of the Grand Cherokee – and the Compass and Patriot. These new Jeep Altitude editions will clearly have a broad appeal among consumers, especially those looking for something distinctive, edgy, and just plain cool.”

The new, limited-edition Grand Cherokee, Compass and Patriot Altitude models will arrive at Safford Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Fredericksburg in May.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude

jeep grand cherokee altitude

Jeep’s premium icon – the Grand Cherokee – is the most awarded SUV ever over its lifetime compared to any other SUV. The Grand Cherokee Altitude edition combines a variety of exterior design changes to create a unique model with an aggressive chrome and “blacked-out” look.

The vehicle’s grille surround appears in black gloss, and mesh grille texture in platinum chrome. A platinum chrome lower fascia applique completes the unique front-end appearance. Black headlamp bezels and a black liftgate light bar continue the “blacked-out” theme throughout the vehicle’s exterior.

The Grand Cherokee Altitude rides on 20-inch tires that surround black-gloss aluminum wheels.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude model includes standard leather-trimmed seats, heated front seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, a 9-speaker 506-watt amp sound system with subwoofer, iPod/MP3 connectivity, Parkview™ rear back-up camera, ParkSense® rear-park assist system, Keyless Enter-N-Go, Chrysler Group’s Uconnect hands-free communications system, and more than 50 advanced safety and security features.

Available in Deep Cherry Red, Brilliant Black, Mineral Gray, Bright Silver Metallic, Maximum Steel Metallic and Stone White, the Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude starts at a U.S. Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $35,595 for 4×2 models and $37,595 for 4×4 models.

Jeep Compass Altitude

The new limited-edition Compass Altitude continues the “from-the-factory” customized look first seen in the Grand Cherokee concept shown in January.

A distinctive black gloss finish surrounds Compass’ trademark seven-slot Jeep grille and headlamps, and the treatment continues with black roof rails and a black step pad. The Compass Altitude rides on exclusive 18-inch black gloss aluminum wheels wearing Firestone BSW all-season performance tires.

The Jeep Compass Altitude model is available in three drivetrain configurations (including available Freedom Drive I and Freedom Drive II Off-Road packages), and features power heated exterior mirrors and heated seats, remote start, continuously variable automatic transaxle, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, and includes numerous safety and security features, such as electronic stability control, electronic roll mitigation, Hill-start Assist (with manual transmission), and side-curtain air bags that cover all rows.

Available in Deep Cherry Red, Black, Mineral Gray and Bright White, the Jeep Compass Altitude’s starting U.S. MSRP is$22,190 for 4×2 models and $23,940 for 4×4 models.

Jeep Patriot Altitude

The Jeep Patriot Altitude continues the “blacked-out” theme found on Grand Cherokee and Compass versions, but features more chrome and polished steel than its Compass sibling.

Riding on 17-inch high-gloss black aluminum wheels and Firestone BSW all-season touring tires, the Jeep Patriot Altitude boasts a bright chrome lower fascia and rear step pad appliques, and bright polished steel roof rails.

Jeep Patriot is the best-priced SUV in America, was recently named an Edmunds.com Lowest True Cost To Own® vehicle, and has earned an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) “Top Safety Pick.”

The Patriot Altitude edition is available in three drivetrain configurations (including available Freedom Drive I and Freedom Drive II Off-Road packages), and features power heated exterior mirrors and heated seats, power windows (driver one-touch) and locks, continuously variable automatic transaxle, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, and includes numerous safety and security features, such as electronic stability control, electronic roll mitigation, Hill-start Assist (with manual transmission), and side-curtain air bags that cover all rows.

Available in Deep Cherry Red, Black, Mineral Gray and Bright White, the Jeep Patriot Altitude’s starting U.S. MSRP is $20,240 for 4×2 models and $23,275 for 4×4 models.

Jeep “Name My Ride” Contest

For several weeks following the Houston Auto Show, consumers had the opportunity to name the Jeep Grand Cherokee concept vehicle by visiting Jeep.com. The brand then compiled entries and narrowed them down to three favored choices:

– Altitude: representing the new heights the Jeep brand is reaching, with an array of new vehicles and special-edition models consumers have been seeking, a wide variety of vehicle and brand awards, and a string of recent sales successes that includes 23 months of increased sales – up 24 percent in 2010, 44 percent in 2011 and 34 percent so far in 2012

– Midnight: for the distinctive, mysterious, deep and dark “blacked out” appearance of the vehicle; and

– Obsidan: a dark-colored – usually jet black – volcanic rock that displays curved surfaces – and may tie to a potential future Jeep model name.

After two weeks of online voting, “Altitude” was chosen as the winning name. Mark Johnson, of Sanger, Calif., submitted the name and will receive a new 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Jeep sales highlights

In 2011, Jeep brand sales increased 44 percent in the U.S. – with each Jeep model up more than 30 percent – while industry sales rose 11 percent. Globally, Jeep sales increased 41 percent in 2011. Through the end of February, Jeep sales are up 34 percent in 2012 (versus industry increase of 14 percent), and 35 percent globally.
