Last summer my sister and I dragged my boys half-way across the country for a month, in my Chrysler Town & Country, just to re-live a bit of our childhood, exploring our country’s national parks and historical sites: The Grand Canyon, Pikes Peak, Yellowstone National Park, Mount Rushmore, etc, etc…. This was something we used to do as kids every summer, and we wanted to do it again with my kids, so they could experience the ‘thrill’ of it all (not necessarily their word!)
At Safford Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Fredericksburg we hear interesting stories from our customers about their family travels too. Customers have told us some amazing stories, shown us pictures of beautiful landscapes they have visited, and shared how wonderful it is to travel cross-country in the luxury of their Chrysler Town & Country, but nothing makes us laugh more than people who tell us that they just got back from seeing the world’s largest cow. For your enjoyment, here are a few other wacky places our customers have told us about:
The Big Mac Museum. For people who love McDonald’s, this museum is the mecca of the fast-food chain’s most popular item. The museum, located in North Huntingdon, PA, is also a working McDonald’s restaurant. You can learn the history of the Big Mac, see artifacts like a Big Mac toaster and a sauce gun, and check out a 14 foot tall Big Mac.
World’s Largest Catsup Bottle. Yes, this is real. The World’s Largest Catsup bottle is a 170 foot tall water tower built in 1949 for the city of Collinsville, IL. At the time, the town was home to the G.S. Suppiger catsup bottling company and the water tower was built to show the world how proud they were of their town’s industry. This roadside attraction was almost demolished in 1995, but was luckily saved and restored and in 2002 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
Crayola Factory and Hall of Fame in Easton, PA. I have heard that this is not really an actual factory, but is still a cool tour and museum for families to visit. A guide shows you how crayons are made and leads you through the entire process of making Crayolas. There are several activity stations for your children to have hands-on play time. There is a model magic station, a place to create your own 35mm slides and project them on the wall, and thousands of things for the kids to color. Don’t forget to finish your visit by checking out the World’s Largest Crayon, which is 15 feet long and 1,500 lbs.
World’s Largest Chest of Drawers. If you happened to pass by this North Carolina attraction in your youth you might not recognize it today. The original chest of drawers was built in the 1920s by the High Point Chamber of Commerce to honor their status as the “Home Furnishings Capital of the World.” The building was originally 20-feet tall but was renovated in 1996 and became a 38-foot tall block front chest with two socks to symbolize the city’s hosiery industry.
Cadillac Ranch – Located just to the west of Amarillo on I-40 is this eccentric billionaire’s attempt to baffle the locals. In 1974 local billionaire Stanley Marsh III and a group of artists called the Ant Farm put 10 Cadillacs into the ground. It became an instant tourist attraction and a place for people to create their own art work by spray painting the Cadillacs. If you want to make your mark on the cars make sure you take a picture because it won’t be long before someone spray paints over your mark.
Museum of Pez Memorabilia – Did you love Pez candy when you were a kid? If you were like my sister, you liked the dispensers more than you liked the candy. ( she has a collection that could almost rival the one at this museum! ) If you happen to be travelling near Burlingame, California stop by and check out the Pez Museum. It is pretty small but it holds over 550 different character dispensers and the world’s largest Pez dispenser.
Largest Ball of Twine – In 1950 a man named Francis Johnson started wrapping twine for around four hours a day for about 6 months. He continued to wrap twine until he died in 1989. If you are passing by Darwin, MI you can see his twine ball creation that now weighs 17,400 pounds!

Chrysler is pleased to announce that it has been named one of 2012’s Top 10 Car Brands by Total Car Score, a well-respected automotive research and comparison website that ranks every car, truck, van and crossover on the market.
Different than the awards for top-scoring car, which focus exclusively on individual models, the list of top car brands ranks automakers according to the overall strengths of their entire lineup. The goal, says Karl Brauer, editor in chief of Total Car Score, is to provide “a data-driven assessment of which automakers are producing the most desirable, highest-quality cars.”
The fact that Chrysler made the Top 10 means that all of our vehicles, from the Chrysler 200 to the Chrysler Town & Country, displayed the kind of consistency that brings only positive attention. And that’s not all—while we scored higher across the board than most of the competition, we also showed the second highest year-over-year improvement, jumping a whopping 3.71 points in total automaker score.
Here’s what Total Car Score had to say about a few of our models:
The 2012 Chrysler Town & Country earned a Total Car Score that’s among the highest in the Minivan category. Having perhaps the strongest pedigree in this segment, the Town & Country now arrives in its best form yet.
The 300 has been praised for its comfortable ride, powerful engines, all-wheel-drive capability and a new eight-speed automatic transmission that enhances both performance and fuel economy. Reviewers also spoke highly of the 300’s stylish exterior, upscale cabin and abundance of tech and luxury features, including standard Uconnect infotainment and a high-end 19-speaker sound system.
Critics universally agreed that the 200 (in both sedan and convertible form) is much better than the Sebring it replaced a year ago in just about every way: styling, interior design, ride comfort, and, when equipped with the Pentastar V6, driving dynamics.
Safford Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Fredericksburg, your Virginia Chrysler dealer, is proud to offer these award-winning vehicles. Provided this trend continues—and we see no reason why it shouldn’t—we’re looking forward to climbing even higher in the ranks next year.
Stop in for a test drive today, of the Chrysler Town & Country, the Chrysler 300, or the Chrysler 200, and see what makes us one of the Top Chrysler Dealers in the Country that offers one of the Top Car Brands in America.
It wouldn’t be much fun to go car shopping and have to stare in the window of a ‘gallery’ full of cars – not being able to touch them, get any information about them, sit inside, smell the ‘new car’ smell, or especially, go for a test-drive. That thought is entirely unimaginable.
Well, not only does Chrysler offer test drives and product information at the dealership and on their social media sites, just like every other dealer, but they also offer ‘Ride & drives’ which allow prospective customers the opportunity to get behind the wheel of their favorite Chrysler Group cars and trucks and obtain additional product information in a casual setting.
